The fastest way to find volunteer opportunities near you is to search a live marketplace by suburb or city, filter by the cause you care about, and apply directly to the organisation. Start with what you care about
The volunteers who stay are the ones who choose a cause first and a role second. Aged care, disability support, childcare, community meals, animal welfare and crisis support all need very different kinds of people, and all of them need someone exactly like you.
If you are not sure yet, think about the conversations you enjoy. If you love hearing people's life stories, companionship roles in aged care will suit you. If you are energised by kids, early learning and family support will feel natural. If you want practical, visible results, meals, transport and events deliver that every shift.
Search by where you actually are
Local matters in volunteering because most roles ask for a regular commitment. A role that is forty minutes away feels exciting in week one and exhausting by week eight.

- Check the location on every listing. Some roles are at one site, others happen in people's homes across a region.

What a good listing tells you
A quality listing answers your questions before you ask them. Look for the time commitment per week, how long the organisation hopes you will stay, what the checks involve, who pays for them, and who your contact person is.
If a listing is thin on detail, that is a fair question to raise in your first message. Good organisations welcome it, because they want volunteers who turn up informed.
Understand the checks before you apply
Most care roles require screening: a police check, a working with children check, or sector specific clearances depending on your country. This is normal and it protects the people you will meet.
