Workplace giving FAQ
What is workplace giving?+
Workplace giving is a programme where employees donate to charities directly from their pre-tax pay, often matched dollar for dollar by their employer. In Australia donations flow through payroll under ATO workplace giving rules. In the UK the equivalent is Payroll Giving, also called Give As You Earn.
Is workplace giving tax deductible?+
Yes. In Australia, donations to Deductible Gift Recipients (DGRs) made through workplace giving are pre-tax, so the tax benefit is received immediately each pay cycle. In the UK, Payroll Giving donations are deducted before income tax under HMRC rules. SuggiCare retains source files for audit.
How do I set up a workplace giving program?+
Three steps. Connect your existing payroll or giving provider to SuggiCare, choose verified Care charities and matching rules, and surface participation, donations and matched dollars in dashboards and board-ready ESG reports mapped to GRI 413, ESRS S3 and SASB.
What is payroll giving and how does it work?+
Payroll Giving (Give As You Earn) is the UK scheme that lets employees donate directly from pre-tax salary to any HMRC-approved charity. The employer deducts the gift before income tax, the Payroll Giving Agency forwards it to the charity, and the donor receives immediate tax relief at their marginal rate.
What are Dollars for Doers grants?+
Dollars for Doers, sometimes called volunteer grants, are corporate grants that convert verified employee volunteer hours into cash donations to the charity those hours supported. SuggiCare pushes verified VMS volunteer hours into your giving provider so dollars-for-doers can be released without manual reconciliation.
Does SuggiCare replace our workplace giving platform?+
No. SuggiCare sits alongside your existing programme. It syncs donations and matched dollars, pushes VMS volunteer hours for dollars-for-doers, and produces the ESG evidence layer that giving platforms typically do not.
Which ESG frameworks does workplace giving reporting cover?+
GRI 413 (Local Communities), ESRS S3 (Affected Communities), SASB sector standards, B Corp Community impact area, and TCFD physical risk for Care property. Source files are retained for audit.
Where is workplace giving data stored?+
All workplace giving data is stored in AWS Sydney with row level security, audit logging and SOC2 aligned controls. No data leaves the region.
